My Epilogue at 90 in Real Time

Shehecheyanu — My Epilogue at 90 in Real Time — a portrait of Miriam Strickman Levitas

Shehecheyanu — a traditional Jewish blessing recited to celebrate new and special occasions, expressing gratitude for reaching a specific milestone.

The Reflection

Like Moses, in Va'etchanan, I stand at a place where memory becomes meaning. I have known prayers answered and prayers unanswered, loss and miracles. Looking back across 90 years, I realize the greatest gift is not that I lived through the story, but that I have been granted the grace to tell the story while I am still inhabiting it … to see the miracles, name them, and continue to give thanks for them.
